Behind the historic façade of the former Frankfurt Opera House, is one of the most important concert halls hidden, whose importance extends far beyond Germany.
Here every evening, the concert visitors will be presented with a high-caliber program with contemporary and classical music and jazz - in the summer and at Christmas - with world-famous musicals and show productions.
The internationally most important conductors, soloists, ensembles and orchestras were here and still are regularly at the Alte Oper Frankfurt - from Claudio Abbado to Hans Zender, from Martha Argerich to Frank Peter Zimmermann, from the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a congress center with around 50 events a year, the Alte Oper Frankfurt enjoys a good reputation far beyond the Rhine-Main area. Large companies appreciate the prestigious halls and lounges of the house and organize rushing balls, international congresses, press conferences, company jubilees or receptions.
Gastronomy has also been a permanent fixture in the house. Since 1998. the gastronomic support of the house (the break, the café Rosso and the restaurant Opéra) have been in the hands of Gerd Käfer and his team.
